Looking to bounce back from their cup defeat to Wellington the previous week, the Worthian Ressies faced a young Chippenham Devs team at the Elms.
Highworth started the game brightly and were soon in control, Jonah Beer giving them the lead after only 5 minutes when his shot was saved buthe was quickest to react and fire in the rebound 1-0.
Only 4 minutes later is was 2-0 as Jamie Sheppard slotted home after being slipped in by Max Slinn. The young Chippenham side were ever willing and kept plugging away, but conceded a 3rd on 29 minutes when Jamie Sheppard headed home his 2nd. Just 5 minutes later it was 4-0 as Max Slinn got himself on the sheet.
Chippenham got their reward for the efforts they’d put in on the stroke of half time when they got themselves on the score sheet, sending the sides in at 4-1 to the Worthians at half time.
The second half got underway and carried on in much the same vein and after 10 minutes Harrison Edwards was replaced by Josh Coombe. It was Coombe who provided the cross for Sheppard to tuck away on 63 minute and complete his hat-trick. This was a crazy couple of minutes as on 65 minutes, Max Slinn prodded home his 2nd and only a minute after that Jonah Beer got his 2nd with a sublime lob.
With the score now 7-1 Chippenham grabbed a second which was headed home by their centre half for 7-2. With 15 minutes left Adam Whitby and Arron Dale were sent on replacing Tom Rejek and Dan "Ginge" Drewett. On 83 minute Beer was unlucky not to complete his hat-trick as his goal bound shot hit Whitby on the arse and flew into the other corner for 8-2.
The ninth and final goal for the hosts came in the 89th minute from Harry Ayres who skipped past his man out wide before smashing the ball in off the underside of the bar from a narrow angle. Completing a fine 9-2 victory for the Worthians and get them bouncing back to winning ways.
