After a couple of weeks without a game the Worthian Reserves were looking to keep their winning run to the start of the season going as they faced Brimscombe n& Thrupp Devs under lights on Friday night.
They started the game brightly and with the game less then 10 minutes old, they took the lead when a cross field pass from Harrison Edwards found Jordan Clark at the far corner of the box and he brilliantly fired into the far corner with tremendous half volley.
Only minutes later it was 2-0 as Harry Ayres went flying down the wing before cutting the ball back for Clark who stroked the ball in from about 12 yards.
With 20 minutes on the clock it was 3-0 with Ayres again providing the ammunition as he drove the ball across the six yard box and Max Slinn tapped in off the far post, 3-0.
Highworth could've made it 4-0 before the break when Edwards was fouled in the box, only for Clark to have his penalty saved by a fine stop from the young Brimscombe keeper.
Half time 3-0
The second half carried on in much the same vein with Arie Peursum an almost spectator in the Highworth goal. It was a case of some fine keeping and some wasteful finishing from the Highworth lads that stopped the game becoming a bit of a hiding.
With no more goals in the second half the game finished 3-0 with a pleasing display all over from the Worthians although they maybe need to be a bit more clinical. Credit goes to the young Brimscombe side who never rolled over or gave up and battled to the very end, but ultimately were blown away in the first 20 minutes by a rampant Worthians.
