Highworth Town 1 Sholing 0

On a chilly evening at the SaveOnTyres Stadium Highworth took the points in a close encounter with Sholing.

Having suffered 1 - 0 defeats in both of their opening two home league games it was a
relief when a goal finally arrived in the 41st minute when Edgey Mbunga was put in down the left before calmly slotting home beneath visiting keeper Ryan Gosney.

Sholing could have taken the lead on 15 minutes when Dan Miller beat home keeper Connor Johns to a left wing cross but headed narrowly over.

Gosney then denied Sean Woods and Mbunga with decent stops before the deadlock was broken and half time was reached at 1-0.

The second period saw Sholing push forward but the home side created the better chances and saw a Steve Robertson header strike the bar and Gosney make 3 fine saves from Mbunga, Sam Morris and Dan Drewett.

Dan Comer deflected a close range Sholing effort away for a corner but in truth Johns hand no real saves to make throughout the second period.

FT 1-0

The win takes the Worthians to 7thh place in the embryonic BetVictor Southern League Divison 1 South table with 3 wins and 2 losses.
