poor run of form continues on the road
By Derek Lloyd
Cinderford Town 3 Highworth Town 1
Despite a third goal in four games for Swindon Town loanee Jordan Young the Worthians poor run continued with this defeat at Cinderford.
The visitors started brightly with Sam Morris having a shot tipped over the bar by keeper Harris and then hitting a post with a shot across the 6 yard box. The home side took the lead on 25 minutes when Ryan Morgan was clearly impeded when dealing with a cross from the left and Blain Waugh forced the ball home from close range. The remainder of the half was fairly even with Highworth playing some nice passing football despite the pitch being somewhat bobbly in places.
Cinderford dominated the second half and it was only the performance of Connor Johns in the Highworth goal that kept Highworth in the game.
It was 2-0 however on 60 minutes when Highworth failed to defend a cross from the left and James Harding headed home from 6 yards.
Highworth did pull one back on 72 minutes when Young converted a Morris cross from the left. Highworth pushed on and Harris did well to smother a close range effort from Young but it was game over on 90 minutes when more poor defending allowed Josh Hunt to fire home from 8 yards.
Next up for Highworth is a home fixture on Saturday versus Bristol Manor Farm, 3.00 ko.
