Worthians back to winning ways

Highworth Town 1 Paulton Rovers 0
On a blustery afternoon at the SaveOnTyres Stadium a solitary goal from Yeshaya Lotomey, his first for the club, ensured a run of 4 defeats came to an end. In a game of few real chances the visitors started the brighter and could have opened the scoring in the opening minutes when Highworth keeper Connor Johns spilled a long range effort but he and a defender manged to block the follow up. Adam Forster in the Paulton goal produced a decent save from a Darren Jeffries effort but there was little other goalmouth action up to half time.
Now playing against the wind Highworth started the second half much the better side and were rewarded in the 60th minute when Forster was unable to collect a free kick from the left with the ball falling to Lotomey who slotted home from 10 yards.
Paulton came into the game but Highworth always threatened on the break although no clear cut chances accrued.
Johns kept Highworth ahead in the 88th minute with a tremendous save from a close range header following a corner. As time ran down Highworth's Ash Edenborough saw red for a lunging tackle which on another day may have only warranted a yellow card.
On a day when we remembered local resident and HTFC friend and supporter Maureen Tanner in an superbly respected minutes silence it was nice to kick start the season again with a tough visit to Moneyfields next Saturday.
Our Match Sponsor, Terry Roberts, selected Zak Westlake as MoM.
