Parsons and Roberts fire Worthians to big win
The Worthians comprehensively beat Thatcham Town at the Save On Tyres Stadium today with a Callum Parsons hat-trick and 2 goals from Jordan Roberts.
In an even first half of few chances home keeper Connor Johns saved a free kick low down to his right on 14 minutes but was otherwise untroubled during the first period.
Jordan Roberts opened the scoring on 39 minutes when he brilliantly volleyed home from wide out on the left with a shot that nestled in keeper Rackley's top left hand corned. Debutant Ashan Holgate then forced Rackley into a save with a header from a corner.
The second half was all Highworth Town.
Callum Parsons was given time in the box on 59 minutes as he turned defenders before slotting home from 12 yards.
He repeated the same skill on 74 minutes, this time from 18 yards out, to make it 3-0 and make the game safe.
There was more astonishing skills to come however.
Jordan Roberts spotted Rackley off his line and lobbed him from fully 40 yards out in the 80th minute before Parsons collected a Rackley clearance from the right hand side of the penalty area and slotted home from 35 yards as the keeper attempted to recover his position.
Quite a result and the Worthians now sit 4th in the table.
In dismal weather 126 attended and the home fans at least, must have enjoyed what they saw.
Impressive performances all over the pitch but sponsors, Hanley's gave the MoM award to Callum Parsons.
