Highworth Town 3-1 Fairford Town
“Steve Hall Steve Hall ”
Highworth Town returned to winning ways at the Elms today with a 3-1 victory over neighbours Fairford Town.
Having taken the lead after24 seconds when a Jason Milhench shot from the left appeared to be deflected in by a F airford defender the hosts dominated the first 45 minutes and with more clinical finishing should really have been further ahead at the break.
Ash Edenborough extended the Worthians lead after 53 minutes forcing home an Aaron Ferris cross.
Conor Lynch then reduced the arrears on 60 minutes for the visitors, firing home after a corner was not cleared.
Highworth's two goal advantage was restored after 66 minutes when substitute Rory Sproule curled home a beauty from 20 yards.
No further goals in the remaining 24 minutes but after a rash tackle by Fairford substitute Steve Hall a melee ensued which resulted in both the miscreant and Highworth's Edenborough being dismissed.
All in all a decent performance on a heavy pitch in front of a crowd of 120 with a promising debut from Conor Waldon who on another day may well have bagged a couple of goals.
