With no first team game yesterday (08/09) the spotlight was on the reserves and Development sides on Saturday.
The reserves unbeaten start to the season in the Uhlsport Hellenic League Div. 2 West continued with a 6-2 away win at Woodstock Town. After 2 wins and a draw from their opening 3 games they lie third in the table 2 points behind Headington Amateurs and Bourton Rovers. Next Sat the reserves travel again, this time to Brimscombe and Thrupp for a 3.00 pm ko. Our hosts currently have 1 point from 3 games.
Our Development side drew 2-2 away at Sportz Central yesterday to follow up a narrow 1-0 defeat last week against Blunsdon FC. Next weeks sees the team take on Village Inn at Coleshill FC, 2.30 ko.
Next Saturday the 1st team travel to Street for their third Evostik Southern League Div. 1 South away fixture. We are again running a coach departing the club at 1130 on which we have a few places left @£10 per person. Get in touch if you would like to travel with us.
The team currently lie 11th in the table although with 7 points from 4 games they are actually level with 5th placed Cirencester Town albeit with a lesser goal difference. Street also have 7 points from 4 games and lie in 6th place again on goal difference.
The next home game at the Save on Tyres Stadium is on Sat 22nd Sept when the 1st team welcome old Hellenic League adversaries Thatcham Town. This is as usual a 3.00 pm ko when we will hope that as many as possible can get along to a game sponsored by Hanleys of Highworth. The club will be open from noon. The matchday programme for this fixture will be available for download in advance, we will let you know when this is available.
Thanks to all of our sponsors without whom the club could not function at Southern League level, your companies will shortly be advertised within the club on one of our tv screens as well as around the pitch and in the downloadable programme.
