Highworth Town FC 1st Team

End of season update and some useless statistics

After their first season in the EvoStik Southern League Southern Division 1 (Step 4) the first team completed their league programme in 14th place with 48 points. Their record of 13 wins, 9 draws and 16 defeats with 63 goals scored and 71 conceded.
When broken down into home and away it reads:
HOME
P19 W8 D4 L7 GF 34 GA 33
AWAY
P19 W5 D5 L9 GF 29 GA38
With 3 wins,5 draws and only 2 defeats and 14 points in the first 10 games the season started as well as could be hoped for given the step up in level. The next 10 games period was not so successful as only a further 11 points were gained after 3 wins, 2 draws and 5 defeats.
5 Wins and 5 losses in the third batch of 10 games highlighted how consistently inconsistent the team could be but after these 30 games the 40 point mark had been reached and safety from relegation had been comfortably achieved. This may account for the fact that only a further 8 points were accrued in the final 8 games courtesy of 2 wins, 2 draws and 4 defeats.
Our average home league attendances rose by around 20% to 132 despite, it seemed, most pretty dismal Saturday afternoons always occurring when we were at home.
Other statistics:
League doubles were completed over Thatcham Town, Bristol Manor Farm and Fleet Town
whilst Cirencester Town, Yate Town, Cinderford Town, Bideford and Larkhall Athletic all collected 6 points from our 2 games.
Only Larkhall Athletic prevented Highworth from scoring in both league fixtures.
Biggest win : 5-0 v Thatcham Town at home
Biggest loss : 1-7 v Evesham Town at home
In the Cups success was thin on the ground this season.
FA Cup 1st Extra Preliminary Round replay, 2-1 loss to Windsor at home after 3-3 draw away.
FA Trophy Extra Preliminary round, 3-0 loss away at Blackfield and Langley
Southern League Cup 1st round, 5-4 loss on penalties after 0-0 draw at home
Wilts Senior Cup 2nd round 2-1 loss at home v Supermarine.
Still there is always next season
