Highworth maintained their position at the top of the Hellenic League Premier Division with a hard fought victory at Windsor.
On a day when many matches again fell foul of the British weather the Stag Meadow pitch was in decent condition albeit soft down the middle. The visitors scored another early goad after 12 minutes when Aaron Ferris cut in from the right and buried an 18 yard shot into the keeper's bottom left hand corner.
Windsor came back strongly and equalised in the 29th minute. A free kick from the right was not cleared and after visiting keeper Langley blocked a close range effort Pearce did extremely well to hook the ball high into the Highworth net from 10 yards.
The hosts started brightly after the break with Langley doing well to block an effort when on a one on one situation with a Windsor forward.
Windsor also struck the outside of a post from close range before Highworth scored again.
Aaron Ferris this time cut in from the left and shot home from distance for his second of the afternoon after 75 mins.
Some excellent, and some would say desperate, defending then saw Highworth home for their 14th away win.
Next up (hopefully) away v Brimscombe & Thrupp next Saturday.
