On Saturday the much delayed completion of UHL Hellenic Premier League fixtures arrived.
Many congratulations to the champions Thatcham Town and runners up Bracknell Town who thoroughly deserved their promotions to step 4.
After the last couple of rounds of games, when Wantage Town dropped points ,Highworth Town finished a very creditable 3rd with 88 points from their 38 games, slightly disappointing given that 4 of their 6 defeats came in the final weeks of the season
Some positive, and probably now rather meaningless, things of note :
Across the 14 step 5 leagues it appears we have the best points per game average, 2,31, of those teams not promoted.
13 successive wins to start the season
A total of 49 points out of a possible 57 away from home, bettered only by Thatcham Town with 50.
113 league goals scored, average of 2.97 per game.
Only twice , against Bracknell Town (A) and Thatcham Town (H) did Highworth fail to score.
Only 2 sides, Abingdon Utd and Binfield avoided at least 1 defeat against the Worthians
As I say all rather meaningless now but it remains a successful league campaign.
Of the pitch we have made decent strides toward improving our facilities with larger and re-designed dressing rooms, a new medical room and a re-furbished kitchen.
We hope these, with more improvements planned, make a visit to the Elms all the more enjoyable for opponents and spectators alike.
A huge thanks to all of our sponsor players and volunteers at the club and to Jeff Roberts and his management team for their efforts throughout the season.
On Weds 9th May our final fixture is at the County Ground, Swindon, for our Wilts FA Senior Cup Final against Chippenham Town FC, 7.45 ko, we hope to see as many there as possible.
